KEO financial literacy at the mentl awards 2025
KEO financial literacy at the mentl awards 2025.

2025 WINNER · Financial literacy

KEO’s financial literacy project responded to a clear gap in employee feedback. While colleagues reported benefits from other wellbeing initiatives, only 37% felt positive about the financial support available. Requests for financial assistance had also increased.

What they did

The organisation introduced financial education as a core wellbeing pillar. Four online sessions with author Andrew Hallam combined practical learning with open questions, supported by more than 40 individual consultations. Estate and will-planning sessions and access to financial counselling provided additional routes to information.

Managers helped make participation possible within work commitments. Town halls, the intranet and direct communication made the support visible across a dispersed workforce.

What the entry shows

The entry reported more than 800 participants in the global sessions and over 100 attendees at estate-planning sessions. In a follow-up spot poll, 75% said they intended to change their spending and saving habits and 87% intended to make practical changes to their investment habits.

Those responses measure intention, rather than verified changes in financial behaviour or reduced financial stress. They nevertheless show how participants responded to the learning.

What others can learn

Financial wellbeing can be discussed without making assumptions about an employee’s circumstances. Accessible education, opportunities to ask questions and confidential support offer different starting points.

KEO’s example shows the value of using feedback to identify a neglected part of wellbeing and then tracking both participation and what people take from the sessions.
