Safa Community School receiving its education award at the mentl awards 2025

2025 WINNER · Education

Safa Community School’s winning entry described wellbeing as a whole-school responsibility, connecting the curriculum, student voice, specialist support and the experience of staff.

What they did

The school used surveys and the Komodo platform to listen to students, with findings feeding into review and planning. Age-appropriate learning extended from early years through Year 13, supported by peer ambassadors and clear routes to help.

The submission described on-site counselling, occupational therapy and speech support. Staff could also access counselling. Activities and opportunities to connect sat alongside these services, rather than being the only response to wellbeing needs.

What the entry shows

In its 2025 survey, the school reported that 97% of students knew who to speak to when they needed support and 99% felt safe. The entry did not provide a respondent count alongside those figures.

Knowing where to turn is a useful indicator of whether support is visible. It does not capture every student’s experience, so ongoing listening remains important.

What others can learn

A school can make support part of everyday life by combining learning, trusted relationships and specialist provision. Students need to know not only that help exists but whom they can approach.

Safa’s example puts that visibility alongside a process for listening and responding as needs change.
